NBA Basketball: NBA All Star Starters Announced
January 27, 2008
Every year when the NBA All Stars are selected by fans there are some pretty obvious selections regardless of their performance on the floor (unfortunately) like the regulars from the Western Conference: Kobe Bryant from the Los Angeles Lakers, Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs and Yao Ming from the Houston Rockets.
The Eastern Conference on the other hand doesn’t have the same kind of regularity, but it does have some familiar faces like the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, triple-double machine Jason Kidd from the New Jersey Nets and the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade.
Here are the starters for both the Western and Eastern Conference:
Western Conference:
Allen Iverson, Guard Denver Nuggets
Kobe Bryant, Guard Los Angeles Lakers
Carmelo Anthony, Forward Denver Nuggets
Tim Duncan, Forward Denver Nuggets
Yao Ming, Center San Antonio Spurs
Eastern Conference:
Jason Kidd, Guard New Jersey Nets
Dwyane Wade, Guard Miami Heat
LeBron James, Forward Cleveland Cavaliers
Kevin Garnett, Forward Boston Celtics
Dwight Howard, Center Orlando Magic
Although these guys are the best of the best, but I can’t help but notice some players that had some had an awesome season this year and aren’t on this list like Portland Trailblazers Brandon Roy (should be most improved player), always neglected Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns and last year’s MVP Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks.
I know the reserves haven’t been announced yet, but these three guys have been playing outstanding basketball for their teams, especially Brandon Roy who has completely turned around what was a terrible franchise in Portland to a playoff contender.
The All Star game will be one for the books, but I can’t help but think the voting system might be a little out of wack.
