NBA Basketball: NBA Western Conference Showdown
January 16, 2008
Down goes Bynum, down goes Bynum! In Sunday’s 100-99 win over the Memphis Grizzles, Lakers young superstar center Andrew Bynum went down hard with a somewhat serious knee injury that will keep him out two months. If haven’t been paying attention to Lakers basketball this, Andrew Bynum has turned into one of the best centers in the league this season, dominating both on the offense and defense.
Playing alongside arguably the best player in the NBA in Kobe Bryant, the two have become one of the best one-two punches in the NBA as they have the best record (26-11) and the top seed in the Western Conference.
The Phoenix Suns on the other hand have been playing solid team basketball as usual, but they have had some serious trouble with the Lakers this season losing both times they have met, once in the beginning of the season and the second time on Christmas Day.
Andrew Bynum was a big part of the Lakers success against the Suns this season which makes their next contest on Thursday, Jan. 17th very interesting because of Bynum’s absence. Not only will it be a good game, but the top spot in the Western Conference is on the line as who ever takes the victory will be on top of the best conference in the NBA.
