NFL Football Week 14: NFL Playoffs Are Right Around The Corner

December 9, 2007

With the playoffs right around the corner, every game will mean everything for teams that are struggling to grab a playoff spot and others that are holding on for dear life. Unfortunately for us football fans, week 14 is going to be kind of a drag as there are only about 6 match ups worth watching this Sunday.

Key Match Ups:

Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions:
-After last week’s performance against the Minnesota Vikings, the Lions spirits have been crushed, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset against an unsuspecting Dallas team

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts 25-28
-Peyton Manning and company held off a tough Jacksonville team to keep on top of the AFC South once again without Marvin Harrison

NFL Football Week 13: Key Match Ups

December 2, 2007

Week 14 got off to a good start on Thursday with two of the NFC’s best going head to head in Dallas with Romo and company taking down Favre’s Packers, but are there any other must see games this weekend worth watching? Well, the answer is yes and it starts off with a great AFC divisional match up between 9-2 Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars who are sitting quietly at 8-3, just waiting for the chance to take the lead in the running for the AFC South division title over the Colts who have dominated the division for years. So keep your eye on this one because who ever comes out on top, just might be the second best team in the AFC and possibly the NFL behind the New England Patriots.

NFL Football Week 12: Weekend Wrap Up and Monday Night Football Preview

November 26, 2007

As predicted, this week showcased some pretty competitive games and really close calls for some teams that were just a little too confident.

I have to start with the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles; even though it was the last game on Sunday it was a big surprise that it was that close of a contest.

When it was announced that Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb wasn’t going to play and backup AJ Feely was going to be the starter, I was getting ready to see an absolute massacre, similar to what the Patriots did to the Washington Redskins a few weeks ago and the Buffalo Bills last week, but that was as far from the truth as can be! The Patriots did score on an interception by Ansante Samuel (best corner in football right now) on the Eagles first possession, but after that, the teams might as well have been mirror images of each other, if you can believe that!

NFL Football Week 11: Sunday Matchups

November 18, 2007

Week 11 has arrived and a few questions remain, but some of the most important ones have been answered. Officially, the New England Patriots are the best team in the NFL this season and quite possibly all-time. After they pulled out a win on Indianapolis home turf, it seemed as if the Patriots barely got by, but after seeing the Peyton Manning and the Colts completely implode against the San Diego Chargers last week I think it is pretty safe to say that the Patriots are the top dogs.

The real question now is, “Who is the next best team in the NFL?” The answer is The Dallas Cowboys, lead by superstars Tony Romo and wide receiver Terrell Owens. After beating up division rival New York Giants on Sunday 31-20, it seems safe to say that the Cowboys own their division and the NFC, Romo was as efficient as ever with 247 yards passing, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Terrell Owens had a breakout game as well being Romo favorite target with 6 catches, 125 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Although Dallas is rolling and looking unbeatable (except against the Patriots), Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers are keeping up in the NFC as well at 8-1. Favre has been spectacular and a mirror image of his younger self, especially against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday when he threw for 351 yards, 3 touchdowns with no picks to beat Adrian Peterson and his Vikings 34-0.

The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers will have a showdown to see who is the top dog in the NFC on a Thursday night in week 13; it should be a good one and possibly a preview of the NFC championship.

Sunday’s Must See Match Ups:

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
The Browns have to be the surprise of the season at 5-4 ahead of the Ravens and the Bengals in the AFC North, there is no way they are going to win the division with Pittsburgh playing the way they are, but they will make a good run at the wildcard, so look for them to take down their division foe on Sunday

San Diego Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Chargers are coming off a huge win over the Colts, but people are calling it a fluke because their offense was non existent, so look for them to make an example of a good Jaguars squad, but Jones-Drew and company have a good shot of taking them down

New York Giants at Detroit Lions
The Giants are recuperating from a disappointing loss to the Cowboys and the Lions having been upsetting good teams all season with a high powered offense, so this should turn out to be a good one with a good defense taking on a good offense

New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans
The Texans are finally back to full strength with quarterback Matt Schaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson coming back, the Saints licking their wounds from a beating by a winless Rams squad, look for both teams to try and prove they are still in the hunt for the playoffs

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have been really struggling this season with an offense that should be unstoppable, but isn’t and the Cardinals are showing signs of life after beating the Lions convincingly, both teams will be looking to destroy the other on Sunday

The New England Patriots are Still #1! Can the Indianapolis Colts Stay Perfect too?

October 23, 2007

It was just another Sunday for Tom Brady and his red hot Patriots as they move to 7-0 with a very convincing win over division rival Miami Dolphins48-28. It was like playing Madden 08 for Tom Brady as he was nothing short of spectacular on Sunday, throwing for a career best 6 touchdowns, just unstoppable and extremely accurate with only 4 incomplete passes (21/25) all game and 354 yards in the air. Needless to say, the New England Patriots are still the team to beat in the NFL and looking like they could definitely challenge the ‘72 Dolphins for the perfect season.

Here is how the rest of the NFL match ups went down:

-Cowboys looked a little shaky at first, but Romo got his boys get into back to form with 277 yards and a touchdown pass to Terrell Owens

Denver Broncos shocks the Steelers 31-28

-the Broncos got the best of Big Ben in a shootout which ended in game winning 49 yard field goal by Jason Elam with time expiring
